Replit Expands Across Europe and Asia and Makes Two Strategic Acquisitions
Replit, the AI platform that turns natural-language prompts into working software, is expanding its presence across Europe and Asia. In September, it opened an office in London’s King’s Cross Knowledge Quarter, which will serve as the hub for its European operations. Its UK and European customers include PwC, EY, Mercedes-Benz Group, Trustpilot and private equity firm Hg.
In November, Replit opened its first office in Asia, in Tokyo. Co-founders Amjad Masad and Haya Odeh announced the launch alongside Tetsuro Imaeda, president of Sumitomo Mitsui Finance and Leasing (SMFL). A reference enterprise customer for Replit in Japan, SMFL is expanding its partnership with the company. The Tokyo office will support Replit’s enterprise growth across Asia.
Replit has also announced two strategic acquisitions. In October, it signed a definitive agreement to acquire Chroma, the company behind ChromaDB, one of the most widely used open-source vector databases, with six million monthly downloads. Chroma’s team and technology will help Replit build a context layer that enables AI agents to draw on an organization’s own knowledge.
The deal follows Replit’s September acquisition of Atta. Its technology now lets users create interactive charts from their data directly in Replit’s chat.
Replit now serves more than 60 million users worldwide and is used by 85% of Fortune 500 companies. Its international expansion and acquisitions reflect the company’s ambition to become the platform where businesses around the world build software.
